2/11/11 - Quick Hydraulics announces new board appointments
Quick Hydraulics Ltd, the Tyneside-based hydraulic products manufacturer, has announced two significant appointments to its board.
Former Pipeline Engineering Managing Director Willy Watson has been named as Non-Executive Chairman. Joining Willy as a new Non-Executive Director is Dave Bacon, who was Special Projects Director at Pipeline Engineering.
Quick Hydraulics, which supplies hydraulic products to the UK and around the world and is a member of business support organisation NOF Energy, was recently subject to a management buy-in by former ContiTech Beattie Managing Director, Andrew Esson.
As major shareholder in the business, Andrew is creating a board to help build upon the company’s current success, which includes annual revenues of around £3million.
Willy and Dave bring exceptional experience and oil & gas market knowledge to Quick Hydraulics. The pair helped grow North Yorkshire-based Pipeline Engineering from a relatively small operation to a £25million enterprise in 10 years.
Andrew Esson said: “Quick Hydraulics has the potential to establish a strong position in the energy sector supply chain. The knowledge and experience Willy and Dave bring to the business is exceptional and they will play a major role in developing the future of the company.”
Willy Watson said: “I have been impressed with the direction Andrew wants to take Quick Hydraulics and am delighted to become Non-Executive Chairman. There is a lot of synergy between where Pipeline Engineering was when colleagues and I acquired it in 1997 and where Quick Hydraulics is now. I am sure the experience Dave and I have will be of benefit to Andrew and his team.”
Dave Bacon said: “The knowledge we have of the oil & gas sector will support the growth of Quick Hydraulics as the company is perfectly positioned to build a presence in that market. There is a lot of potential within this business to be a successful part of the energy sector supply chain and I am looking forward to being part of Quick Hydraulics’ future.”
Joanne Leng, Director Business Development at NOF Energy, said: “Andrew, Willy and Dave all have impressive track-records in the energy sector supply chain. Their combined drive and expertise will be a tremendous asset to Quick Hydraulics. There are considerable opportunities across hydrocarbon and renewable energy sectors for UK supply chain companies and Quick Hydraulics is certainly on the right path to securing a proportion of the business available in these markets.”
